Many Americans suffer from chronic shoulder pain and rotator cuff problems. Four muscles around the shoulder compose the rotator cuff, coming together as tendons in the front, top, and back of the shoulder. These tendons are essential for stability, allowing the shoulder to raise above the head and rotate. Partial tears of the tendon, or a complete tear of the tendon, can cause immense pain. Acute injuries and chronic tears are the primary reasons for rotator cuff tears and pain. For more information on rotator cuff disease and tears, watch the video, below.
