Griffin Ellis, DO

Dr. Griffin Ellis grew up in rural New Mexico, where competitive motocross racing gave him an early competitive drive and a strong mechanical aptitude. He spent much of his youth working on motorcycles and airplanes alongside his father, and that hands-on technical foundation later grew into a passion for skydiving and wingsuit flying.

He first trained as a chemist, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry before pursuing medicine, and he still brings that analytical, first-principles rigor to the operating room. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Broward Health Medical Center in South Florida, where his interest in the biomechanics of the spine took shape. He is drawn to the engineering of the spine and follows the field’s advancing technology closely, with a particular interest in motion preservation and the ongoing evolution of spinal implants.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ellis is an avid snowboarder, wakeboarder, climber, and aviator, drawn to the mountains and outdoors that make Colorado feel like home. He is thrilled to join the Center for Spine & Orthopedics and looks forward to working with its team of spine surgeons.
